Our Path to Carbon Neutrality
We actively work to reduce our ecological footprint by improving energy efficiency and lowering emissions, with the greatest impact occurring in the value chain (Scope 3), while aiming to achieve carbon neutrality in our own operations by 2030.
At De Kuyper, we are committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our production and distribution. We do this through continuous improvements in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and strong collaboration across our value chain.
The most recent measurement of our carbon footprint across the full value chain in 2024/2025 (market based approach) showed that 1.3% of total emissions originate from Scopes 1 and 2, while 98.7% falls within Scope 3. Within Scope 3, Purchased Goods and Services (Scope 3.1) represent the largest share, accounting for 87.2% of total CO₂ emissions. This includes the sourcing of finished products, packaging materials, and raw ingredients, underlining that the majority of our climate impact occurs outside our direct operations.

Within our own operations (Scopes 1 and 2), we have taken further steps to reduce energy consumption. Our distilleries and bottling facilities now operate with 994 solar panels, including 127 newly installed panels in Schiedam. In addition, we offset emissions from our electricity consumption at the Schiedam and Middelharnis sites through Guarantees of Origin (GOs), including electricity used for charging electric vehicles outside our locations. These efforts have resulted in a reduction of nearly 90% in Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Looking ahead, we will focus on measures to reduce Scope 3 emissions, further improve operational efficiency, and increase the share of renewable energy.

Achieving carbon neutrality in our own operations (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030 remains a key objective and continues to guide our sustainability efforts.
